With great pleasure Afaes ry in cooperation with Universal Peace Federation invite you to the celebration of Africa Day and Day of Peace scheduled for 13th of Sept., 2013 at 17:00-20.30 at AFAES Office, Mäkelänkatu 58 A, Helsinki. (Entering from Elimäenkatu 29)
Africa Day is celebrated around the world annually, marking the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and this time 50th Anniversary. In many African countries it is observed as a public holiday. Its aim is to celebrate African diversity and success and to highlight the cultural and economic potential that exists on the African Continent.
The African Day describes the daily reality of life in Africa for hundreds of millions between sunrise and sunset millions of Africans face hardship and suffering that are incomparable to other parts of the earth.
No drinkable water, no shelter, no health, no peace but love, and hope. Africa Day objective is to raise awareness and understanding of development issues in Africa, to highlight the cultural richness and diversity of Africa and to increase awareness of the Finnish Aid programmers in Africa Cultural education and NGOs.This time as you can see our celebration is moved to September instead of May and we can also combine UN Day of Peace to be celebrated at a
same time because the building of lasting peace is really profiting all mankind in this most challenging time in history. Different cultural,national and racial backgrounds are to stimulate each other in order to learn to live together harmoniously while building brighter future.
